Chillblast Fusion confusion

After reading your glowing review of the Chillblast Fusion X2 4400 GTX in November's issue I hastened to their website full of enthusiasm.

To my dismay and I found that Chillblast's package  does not include either the keyboard or, worse, the LCD display. Their excuse appears to be that there was a 'misprint'!

While I would be the last person to accuse them of  deliberately misinforming you and your readers I do think that like was not being compared to like and to that extent was being unfair to the other  manufacturers in the test, unless that is, they are all doing it!

I think to be fair you ought to publish a disclaimer in your next issue and I will note with interest whether this is forthcoming. Not least I think you may consider it desirable to reappraise the 'Value for money' assessment.

Otherwise, an interesting magazine which I look forward to reading.

Whenever Personal Computer World conducts a grouptest, we always email the feature table to the manufacturer for confirmation that all quoted specifications and the product price are correct.

We also tell manufacturers that we review their products as they are sent in, including any peripherals and software.

The feature table published in PCW was checked and approved by Chillblast, including the price of the PC. However, due to a communication mix up we should have stated the price did not include the monitor.

Chillblast say they did tell us that the keyboard and mouse would not be included, but having reread the email it isn't clear and is a good example of how the same words can sometimes have a different meaning for different people. The operating system is now XP Pro in the retail PC, as it was in our review machine.

We still believe that it is a good PC, but accept that pricing information could have been clearer, for which both PCW and Chillblast apologise to readers.

The same mistake was made with the PC Nextday machine in the same review.

I think PCW need to own up in the magazine and tighten up or your reviews will lose credibility.

Sorry to complain about an otherwise excllent mag.
