Why do people think Macs are good?
I am used to PCs and have years of experience of Windows, but have just landed a job where my principal "PC" will be an Apple Mac.
Having used it I have no idea why everyone thinks it is so great.
It is difficult to navigate around and any time anything goes wrong, it does little to help you fix the problem. It comes across as an early version of Windows, all "lookee, no touchee". Personally, for all its faults, I like my XP. I can get downloads and updates and so much software to make it run smoothly that, for the life of me, I see no reason at all, why Apple exists.
Anybody who thinks it is the better OS is a delusional idiot.

Peter,
Nice to see that not only are your comments offensive (just because someone likes something different to you doesn't make them an idiot), but based on very little time spent on a Mac. Having "just landed a job" you can't have been using one for very long.
Have you not thought that perhaps many of your problems with navigation may be due to the fact that you are used to Windows?

Peter,
I realise that your comments are your personal opinion, but give it a couple of months of proper use and you will see why the Mac is superior in many ways to a PC.
By the way, I am a PC user and have been for about 20 years, mainly due to compatability with office PC's and price.
However, as the price of the Mac is falling, it is becomming more and more tempting to switch.

I do agree, Pete, with what I call my limited exp' with Macs that Windows is a more "rounded off" system, and OS("x") feels incomplete.
I am sure there are benefits to some, but I can't be quite sure what they are, personally.
(BTW, you should recant your statement of calling other people idiots, or you will find you only write to half an audience in the future. Just a tip.)

I found it difficult when I first used a mac and also got the feeling that it was missing something. The fact is it is- it's missing a whole heap of unnecessary complication. Once allow yourself to work in a different way you'll appreciate the thought gone into Apple's designs.

I agree. I also use PC's at home, and Mac's at work. Macs are not better. They're not worse, either. But there is definitely nothing innately better about them.
I use Photoshop CS2 on both platforms. There is no difference, other than that the Mac's mouse only has one button. Which sucks. So in that regard, the Mac is worse.
I don't think Mac lovers are idiots. I do think that they like something about their computers that they can't adequately express, so they simplify their claims to "they're so much better". That turns off PC users, so we end up with a stalemate, wherein nobody will give an inch, and each side assumes the other side is stupid.
Of course, I'm not one to talk. I like BMW's. They are the only cars I will buy (until I can afford a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lambo). I realize that Acura probably makes a better car. But I would *never* drive an Acura. I can't believe anybody would choose an Acura over a BMW. So in that regard, I'm an idiot. But at least I recognize that fact, in a way that no Mac user seems to be able to admit about themselves.
